Let me start by saying Head Start is a great program. They are a federally funded program, and they serve many communities across the country. They focus on providing services including health screenings and nutritious meals, and programs connect families with medical, dental, and mental health services to ensure children are receiving the care and attention they need.
They serve a scope of the community, and are not available to all families. In fact they often struggle to be able to meet the needs of those that are eligible, because it's based on income and need.
So what about the other preschool kids in the community?
Very often there is no choice available locally. That's just a fact. Some daycares try to bridge the gap by providing some learning time, but they are first and foremost there to provide child care.
Yet we know that preschool and pre-k are necessary for starting kids off with success, and also for helping to identify any patterns of concern that may benefit from early intervention.
If you are looking for a preschool solution, I encourage you to consider a virtual option - that you can offer your child. That's exactly why Over The Bay Pre-K was created and why I am so passionate about reaching even more families. You can even try some free mini lessons.
Safe and happy travels!
We know the key to success starts way before school, and Pre-K to the end of Third Grade is the significant foundation for learning success.
