You are three WHO parts

Where are you in your who journey, and what are they?

Who you were, Who you are, and Who you are becoming.

And let's look at it through the lens of wellness, for today's conversation, but remember it applies to all areas of life.

Who were you? Were you healthy, vibrant, and athletic? Or were uncomfortable, heavy, off-balance, and not interested and invested?

Who are you now? Are you on a health journey? Have you given up on all the mixed messages and settled into whatever it is, is what it is?

And who are you becoming? Is wellness something you realize is individual, and you aren't meant to be a cookie-cutter size or number, but instead to be comfortable and functional?

Have you realized that you haven't failed, but the system has failed you - and you deserve so much better?

Wherever you were, are, or are headed in your wellness who journey, remember that independence is often a good place to start.  And independence includes how long you can live in your own, in your own home, your way, without support.

things like:
  • I can put my own groceries away
  • I can make my own meals
  • I can clean up after I cook and eat
  • I can take out the trash (including to the curb)
  • I can drive to the ____ or use transit to get there
  • I can safely bathe and shower
  • I can make my bed, yes even the dreaded sheet corners
  • I can pay my bills on time
  • I can brush my hair, and my teeth
  • I know when to follow up on medical concerns
  • I can take my medication on time
  • I can manage the steps in my home
  • I can vacuum and sweep
  • I can do the laundry and safely move it from the hamper, to the wash, to the dry, and back to where it's kept
Notice none of these things are about running a 4-minute mile, or even walking so many steps a day.  These are the everyday movements and brain connections that you need to stay safe in your own home.

So wellness, who were you, who are you today (and that changes regularly for all of us with peaks and lows), and where is your who headed?  It's not a competition with anyone else, it's truly all about YOU!
