What is special about the April Full Moon?

This weekend we have a full moon, Saturday or Sunday depending on where you live.  That picture is one I took from the patio tonight as the moon was rising.

This full moon is different than most because it's the first full moon, after the March Equinox.  That is how they figure each year, "when Easter will be".  Easter is the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the spring equinox.  Yes really, and that's why it's a holiday that moves around and doesn't happen on the same day every year.

But back to the moon, 5:22 pm Pacific Time, Saturday, the moon will be full and it will be the smallest full moon of 2025. The reason is the orbit, the moon is at the farthest point from the Earth and that makes it appear smaller in size.

And while it's called the Pink Moon, that is because of spring flowers in bloom, not the color of the actual moon.   And the Farmers Almanac tells us that this moon, and weekend, is good for weeding, thinning, pruning, mowing, cutting timber, and planting root vegetables.

Many people still follow the old ways and the wisdom that you can find with the Almanac and there is a link at the bottom of this to their website.

And the witchy? The moon will be in Libra, and Venus will be going direct at about the same time. Libra can very much be about creating harmony, and beauty and even love.  And we know Venus can shine the light on those things as well.  Libra is also the scales, and the balance - but this weekend take the pause that things may be a bit exaggerated.

This is a good weekend for some quiet journaling or planning, and that includes things like your budget and spending.  And take a good look at your plants, inside and outside.  What needs repotted, watered, cut back - or depending on where you live planted.  Even if you have a small patio could you plant and grow some potatoes, onions, or carrots?

And take time to find the beauty in things.  Take that pause to see how nature is changing in your neighborhood.  Use all of your senses, what scents are beautiful to you, what colors, sounds and then get them in your journal.

Lastly? Remember to make time to go outside and see the full moon!

Witch, was often the matriarch (still is in more places than you might realize) that knew the healing work.  From birthing babies (or make sure you don't take those herbs, they can lead to a miscarriage) to tinctures, the preservation of the food, and the seasons.  A wisdom keeper, whether it be cloud reading for the storm coming or the full moons that created more feelings.  Here we reclaim the word, the wisdom, and apply it to today's world and schedule.
