I have always been a fan of First Lady Rosalynn Carter and her quiet way of doing the work and providing messaging and leadership. She always embodied what "do the work" and "be an example" look like in life. Mental health was lucky enough to have her shine a light on the large scope of the issues involved with diagnosis, treatment, and stigma. And she was always a light bearer of the fact that there is indeed HOPE in the journey. There really is a lot of hope and a lot of advancements. I am grateful that she chose to use her platform and her voice to help people see that they are not their diagnosis and that there is hope in the journey.
